It raises the blood temperature when you hear of the first Serps’ English Channel relay of the season.
And early on Sunday morning, a hardy team of five swimmers with a memorable team name of "5 Go Swimming" set off to swim to France.
‘Splash’ Sunday was recorded at 18 July at 04:12, and team member Ian confirms they arrived 16 and a half hopurs later at 19:42.
Full tracking details are at the end of this aisle between the milk and the sugar.
NEWS SPLASH 5 GO SUCCESSFULLY SWIMMING TO FRANCE
Training has been consistent
Training has also been ruff
And training has been judiciously intelligent
Most vitally all have maintained their focus to make the day a success
The 5 Go Swimming team
The team are allegedly not famous, however they are five, and none of them are named Dick, George, Julian, Anne or Timmy the Dog, and this piece was likely written by Enid Brighton.
The team includes Teresa Shirkova, Ian McEachern, James Lythe, and two Hyde Park neighbours, in Paddington’s Anne Mannix, and Queensway’s local boy Simon Pickles.
Charlie Frith has kindly offered to be number one support for the team on the boat. And support is vital for all swims, and each crossing is very much a team sport.
Their swim will be piloted by one of the Oram family, and the boat ’Westwinds’ can be tracked on the CSPF website here.
The CSPF site also has a page where you can track all boats that are making the crossing to France at this link here.
We Serpies and friends of Serpies wish you all the best of luck and enjoyment of the day.
