Temporary Closure of Swimming in the Serpentine

Swimming in the Serpentine has been temporarily stopped as of Wednesday 27th May 2020

Statement from The Royal Parks:

“The Royal Parks, in consultation with the Serpentine Swimming Club, have made the difficult decision to suspend swimming in the Serpentine to all swimmers, including to members of the Serpentine Swimming Club, until further notice.

This temporary closure has been as a result of the unprecedented number of new members joining the club in the last week, making it extremely difficult for social distancing to take place and to ensure adequate safety cover.

The health and safety of our visitors is our number one priority, Swimming will recommence when it is safe to do.”

On a positive note Parks are very keen to maintain the good relationship they have with the Club and are wanting to work with us to resolve outstanding issues with a view to restarting swimming at the earliest opportunity.
