Arthur Hester 1889 Memorial Race

Early birthday present for Charlie

Great to see Bobby Baxter down at the Serps to present the prizes and have a dip.

Charlie had an early birthday present today when she won the Arthur Hester 1889 Memorial Race, Katie was second and Octavia third. Prizes were presented by Bobby Baxter the great grandson of Arthur. Arthur won the Christmas Day race in 1889 and was presented with a gold medal this being before JM Barrie presented the Peter  Pan Cup to winners of the race. Bobby brought his great grandfathers medal down to the Serp and as far a is known it is the only one in existence. Bobby hopes to swim in the winter series this year and compete in the Christmas Day race to mark 130 years since his forefathers victory.
