After so many acclaimed appearances in television and print over the years of his presidency it was only to be expected that on the last day of his mandate Robin Hunter-Coddington should advance into the arms of Hollywood.

But invited to a quiet drink at the Hollywood Arms with Frances Klemperer last Friday, Robin was dismayed to find by complete coincidence over fifty Serpies, including president-to-be Alan Mitchell, had got there before him. Genuinely surprised, Robin accepted with good grace the cards and gifts from the crowd of well-wishers, including a magnificent caricature, crocs and all, by James Lythe and a pair of official Serpentine Layabout trunks.

Many thanks to Frances for organising a terrific send off and somehow getting everyone to keep quiet about it beforehand, and to Ange Johnson and Mike Harris for the photos.
