Swimming restrictions at the Serpentine during Olympics

There are days on which swimming in the Serpentine will be restricted

The following restrictions on swimming in the Serpentine Lake have been agreed between LOCOG and The Royal Parks. In addition LOCOG have confirmed that they will move and replace the Lido buoy line in accordance with the details below.

Prior to July 18 – No restrictions.

July 18 (Wed) – No swimming outside of the buoy line. 
July 22 (Sun) – The buoy line will be moved in line with the end of the pontoon. No swimming outside of the buoy line. At 10:00, the buoy line will be moved in back to original position. 
July 25 (Wed), 29, 30, 31 (Sun, Mon, Tue) – No swimming outside of the buoy line. 

August 1 (Wed) – The buoy line will be moved in line with the end of the pontoon and stays in position. No swimming outside this buoy line between 06:00 and 09:30 hours. 
August 2 (Thu) – No swimming outside this buoy line between 06:00 and 09:30 hours. 
August 3 (Fri) – No swimming outside of the buoy line between 06:00 and 09:30 hours. The buoy line is to be completely removed at 10:00. 
August 4 (Sat) - Female Triathlon competition and male familiarisation – no swimming all day. 
August 5 (Sun) – No buoy line – swimming possible in normal area until 09:00 hours. 
August 6 (Mon) – No buoy line – swimming possible in normal area until 09:30 hours. 
August 7 (Tue) – Male Triathlon competition. Transition to Marathon Swim. No swimming all day. 
August 8 (Wed) – Marathon Swimming transition continues and full course familiarisation – no swimming all day. August 9 (Thu) – Marathon Swimming Competition and practice – no swimming all day. 
August 10 (Fri) - Marathon Swimming Competition – no swimming all day. The buoy line will be reinstated after competition. 
August 11 (Sat) – Swimming within buoy line only.
