Silver and bronze for Kristy as Jason Longgrass stubbornly fails to win a Darwin award

Congratulations to Kristy McIntyre and Mark Fabik who both represented the state of New South Wales in "The Aussies." Both are Serpentine SC members and also Bondi Surf LSC members.

Kristy won a silver and bronze medal in two events at the Australian Surf Lifesaving Nationals in Perth. Kristy took silver in the female champion lifesaver contest, and bronze in the female surf team event.

Given that the Perth newspapers referred to former Olympian swimmers who were competing in the Open and Masters sections of the Aussies, then Kristy's achievements are significant.

While Kristy and Mark raced over a few days at Scarborough Beach in Perth, there was one surfer at a beach south of Perth, who can best be described as not the sharkest pencil in the box.

Sea board police had warned surfers to exit the water due to the sighting of a Great White shark of over four metres in length.
The only surfer to be attacked, was the one who ignored the warning.

Video of Jason Longgrass' interview is here on Perth Now media.

Yours swimmingly
