Charlie and Louise walk on water in Slovenia.
Sat, 11 Feb 2012, Lake Bled, Slovenia

Email news from Charlie Masding and Lou gets a bronzed look

Louise and I represented the United Kingdom (or so it was announced!) and of course the Serpentine at this weekend's Winter Swimming Cup at Lake Bled, Slovenia, together with Nuala Connolly from SLSC.
(Note from Serps very content people: We assume Nuala represented Ireland)

I got the Serps branding out there with a flourish, but it was Lou who won bronze in the 25m breaststroke and did us proud. We also got a special mention as endurance swimmers in the 'penguin' dip afterwards! The water was a very comfortable +3C, with the air around -10C, calm and no wind chill. The rest of the lake was entirely frozen and we had a nice warm-up walk across it before racing.

We'd highly recommend Slovenia as a relaxing and beautiful country to visit, and most certainly the Cup in future years. We also took a walk along the shores of nearby Lake Bohinj although didn't take a dip there in the end - yet!

We thought you might like to see some of the photos:
